How the estimate works
- Daily figures come from our guides to travel costs and to private tour prices in Georgia, as 2026 ranges.
- Rooms are priced for two people sharing. A single room costs about 70-90% of a double, so solo travellers and groups with an odd number pay a little more per head.
- Public transport is counted per person. A rental car or a private driver is counted per vehicle, sized to fit your group.
- With a private driver, each guided day adds a guide for the whole group. Without one, a guided day is a private day trip with car, driver and guide.
- Left out: international flights, the travel health insurance every visitor has needed since 1 January 2026, fuel for a rental car, tips and souvenirs.
- It is an estimate, not a quote. Rooms cost more in July, August and over New Year, and less in November and early spring.

What does one week in Georgia cost in 2026?
A backpacker spends roughly 700-1,200 GEL a week ($270-460), a mid-range traveller about 1,750-3,150 GEL (roughly $675-1,210), and anyone using boutique hotels with their own driver-guide from about 4,200 GEL ($1,615). Each figure is per person, without international flights or insurance.
How much should I budget per day in Georgia?
As a 2026 rule of thumb, per person: 100-170 GEL ($40-65) a day on a tight budget, 250-450 GEL ($95-175) for mid-range comfort, and 600 GEL ($230) and up with design hotels and a private driver. Tbilisi in the centre costs more than Kutaisi or village guesthouses.
Is a private driver worth it for a small group?
Often, yes. A car with driver is priced per vehicle, not per seat, about 200-350 GEL a day for a sedan in 2026, so splitting it two to four ways brings the price per head close to that of shared tours, and you choose every stop.
Does the estimate include flights and travel insurance?
No. International flights are left out, and so is the travel health insurance all foreign visitors must hold since 1 January 2026. Arrange the insurance before you travel: you may be asked for proof at check-in or at the border.
