Phazisoba (Poti City Day)
Poti's city festival, named after Phasis, the ancient Greek trading town that stood at the mouth of the Rioni.
PotiPhoto: Berdo Maghularia, CC BY-SA 2.0Poti has celebrated Phazisoba since 1992. The name recalls Phasis, the Greek colony linked to the Argonaut legend of Colchis. Expect concerts, fairs and sports events in the port town's central square and along the seafront.
It is a local festival rather than a big draw, but it suits travellers heading along the coast between Batumi and Zugdidi or visiting Kolkheti National Park.
- Confirm the programme with Poti City Hall in October.
- Combine with a boat trip on Paliastomi Lake in Kolkheti National Park.
