- Georgia (the country) has three international airports: Tbilisi (TBS) for most full-service, Turkish and Gulf airlines, Kutaisi (KUT) for Wizz Air's low-cost network, and Batumi (BUS) on the Black Sea, plus small domestic airports at Mestia and Ambrolauri served from Natakhtari near Tbilisi.
- In mid-October 2026 about 40 airlines flew direct to Tbilisi from more than 50 cities, including London, Munich, Vienna, Warsaw, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Doha, Dubai, Tel Aviv, Almaty and Shanghai; there are no non-stop services from North America, and we found none from India on the autumn schedule.
- Scheduled flight times into Georgia run about 2 h 15 min from Istanbul, about 4 h from Doha or Dubai and about 5 h from London; from New York allow 13.5 to 15 hours with one change.
- Wizz Air flies only to Kutaisi, from 21 European cities on the winter 2026/27 timetable; Kutaisi lies a 3.5 to 4 hour drive from the capital, so its low fares suit trips that start in western Georgia or fly home from Tbilisi.
- Fares tend to bottom out in November, early December and the weeks from mid-January to March, outside the holidays, and peak from July to early September, when Georgian airports carry about twice the passengers of February.
Flights to Tbilisi land at Shota Rustaveli International Airport, ~17 km south-east of the city centre and the busiest way into Georgia (the country). On the mid-October 2026 boards, about 40 airlines linked it directly with more than 50 cities, from London and Munich to Doha, Dubai, Almaty and Shanghai. Nothing flies non-stop from North America, so travellers from there change in Istanbul, a European hub or the Gulf. Budget travellers from Europe often pick Kutaisi instead, the Wizz Air base in the west, 3.5 to 4 hours from Tbilisi by road, while Batumi serves the Black Sea coast.
We built this guide from the three airports' own route maps and live departure boards, read on 18 October 2026, plus timetable and fare searches for November dates. It covers which airlines fly where, flight times from the main hubs, how to choose between Tbilisi and Kutaisi, open-jaw ideas, when tickets are cheapest and the small planes to Svaneti and Racha. Airlines move to winter timetables on the last Sunday of October and back to summer ones at the end of March, and plenty of routes fly only in summer, so confirm any single flight with the airline before you build a trip around it.
Airports in Georgia: three international gateways and the small domestic airfields
Georgia has three airports with international flights: Tbilisi in the east, which carries most of the traffic, Kutaisi in the west for low-cost airlines, and Batumi on the Black Sea. TAV Urban Georgia, part of Turkey's TAV Airports group, runs the Tbilisi and Batumi terminals; the state company United Airports of Georgia manages Kutaisi and the domestic fields.
Civil Aviation Agency figures put the 2025 total at about 8.5 million passengers: 36 percent on flights to neighbouring countries, 28 percent to the European Union and over a million to the Gulf. In the first half of 2026 the tourism administration counted 85 airlines on 125 routes.
| Airport | Code | Location | Main airlines | Passengers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International | TBS | ~17 km south-east of central Tbilisi | Georgian Airways, Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, Qatar Airways, flydubai, Lufthansa, British Airways and about 35 others | 4.98 million in 2025 |
| Kutaisi David the Builder International | KUT | ~14 km west of Kutaisi, ~245 km from Tbilisi | Wizz Air, plus Pegasus, FlyArystan and Azimuth | 1.69 million in 2025 |
| Batumi Alexander Kartveli International | BUS | Southern edge of Batumi, near the Sarpi crossing into Turkey | Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, Israeli airlines, Georgian Airways; more in summer | 1.16 million in 2025 |
| Mestia Queen Tamar | Domestic | Mestia in Svaneti, at ~1,480 m | Small planes from Natakhtari when the weather allows | 9,759 in 2024 |
| Ambrolauri | Domestic | Ambrolauri in Racha, at ~550 m | Occasional small planes from Natakhtari | 1,825 in 2024 |
| Natakhtari airfield | Domestic | ~30 km north of Tbilisi, beyond Mtskheta | Base for the Mestia and Ambrolauri flights | Not published |
Telavi in Kakheti also has an airfield, used for pilot training, with no scheduled passenger flights we could find in 2026. For most visitors the real choice is Tbilisi or Kutaisi.
Direct flights to Tbilisi: which airlines fly in 2026
This list comes from Tbilisi airport's arrivals and departures boards for 18 to 20 October 2026, checked against its official route map. Only the airline operating each plane is named, so the Emirates codes on flydubai's Dubai flights and the partner codes on Qatar Airways' Doha service are left out.
| Region | Airlines and direct routes to Tbilisi, October 2026 |
|---|---|
| UK, France and the Netherlands | British Airways from London Heathrow; easyJet from London Luton; Georgian Airways from Paris Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam; Transavia from Amsterdam |
| Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy | Lufthansa from Munich; Austrian Airlines and Georgian Airways from Vienna; Georgian Airways from Berlin, Milan Bergamo, Rome Fiumicino and Nice; easyJet from Milan Malpensa and Geneva; Edelweiss from Zurich |
| Nordic, Baltic, central and south-east Europe | Norwegian from Copenhagen; airBaltic from Riga; LOT from Warsaw; Air Serbia from Belgrade; Aegean and Sky Express from Athens; Georgian Airways from Larnaca; FlyOne from Chisinau; Belavia from Minsk |
| Turkey | Turkish Airlines from Istanbul Airport; Pegasus from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen and Antalya; AJet from Sabiha Gökçen and Ankara; SunExpress from Antalya |
| Gulf and Middle East | Qatar Airways from Doha; flydubai from Dubai; Air Arabia from Sharjah; Air Arabia Abu Dhabi and Myway Airlines from Abu Dhabi; Flynas from Riyadh and Jeddah; Jazeera Airways and Kuwait Airways from Kuwait; Gulf Air from Bahrain; El Al, Israir and Arkia from Tel Aviv |
| Caucasus, Central Asia and China | Azerbaijan Airlines from Baku; FlyOne Armenia and Georgian Airways from Yerevan; Air Astana from Almaty; SCAT from Aktau and Shymkent; Uzbekistan Airways and Centrum Air from Tashkent; China Southern from Urumqi and Beijing Daxing; Air China from Beijing via Urumqi; China Eastern from Shanghai Pudong |
| Russia | Red Wings, Azimuth and Georgian Airways from Moscow, St Petersburg and several other Russian cities |
Two big low-cost names are missing: Wizz Air serves Georgia only through Kutaisi, and Ryanair flies to none of the three airports. The route map also shows seasonal links that were idle in October, such as Eurowings from Düsseldorf, Berlin and Stuttgart, so check those on the airline's own timetable.
Flights to Georgia from North America, India and Australia
Nothing flies non-stop to Georgia from the Americas, South Asia or Oceania. From New York, a mid-November 2026 search showed one-change trips of 13.5 to 15 hours via Istanbul, London or Paris. IndiGo's Delhi service is on the Tbilisi route map but was absent from the October boards, and our November searches found only one-stop trips, the quickest via Baku in about 8 hours, others via Sharjah, Dubai, Doha or Kuwait City. Australians mostly connect in Doha, Dubai or Istanbul.
Cheap flights to Kutaisi: Wizz Air and the other low-cost routes
Kutaisi airport's online timetable covers the coming month. For 18 October to 18 November 2026 it listed 368 departures, and 306 of them, more than four in five, were Wizz Air. The airport has no night-flight restrictions, which is one reason so many low-cost planes arrive in the small hours.
From 25 October 2026, the first day of the winter timetable, Wizz Air links Kutaisi with Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Bratislava, Brussels Charleroi, Budapest, Dortmund, Frankfurt-Hahn, Katowice, Larnaca, Madrid, Memmingen, Milan Malpensa, Paris Beauvais, Poznan, Prague, Rome, Thessaloniki, Venice, Vilnius and Warsaw, mostly two to four times a week. Several are secondary airports: Memmingen is ~110 km from Munich and Hahn ~120 km from Frankfurt, so price the trip at your end too.
The other airlines are Pegasus, a few times a week from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen; FlyArystan, the low-cost arm of Air Astana, from Almaty, Astana, Aktau and Atyrau; and Azimuth from Moscow.
Hamburg, Lyon and Wroclaw flew until 21 to 24 October 2026 and then stopped for the winter, and the destination list also names Cologne, Gdansk and Vienna, which were not on the autumn timetable. London is not on the list at all, so travellers from Britain fly easyJet or British Airways into Tbilisi instead.
Flights to Batumi: Istanbul, Tel Aviv and the summer routes
Batumi's airport lies on the southern edge of the city, about a quarter of an hour by car from the seafront. In mid-October 2026 its board showed Turkish Airlines and Pegasus from Istanbul, Tel Aviv flights on all three Israeli airlines, Azerbaijan Airlines from Baku, FlyOne from Chisinau, Belavia from Minsk, Russian carriers, and Georgian Airways from Tbilisi.
The official route map adds links that were not flying in October, mostly summer ones: Air Astana and SCAT from Kazakhstan, airBaltic from Riga, flydubai, Flynas and Jazeera Airways from the Gulf, and flights from Iran, Jordan, Armenia and Uzbekistan. Confirm each with the airline.
Batumi suits a beach stay, the Adjara highlands or a trip that comes in from Turkey at Sarpi. The quickest train reaches Tbilisi in about 4 to 5 hours, and Kutaisi airport is about 2 hours away by road.
How long is the flight to Tbilisi? Flight times from major hubs
These are scheduled block times for direct flights into Georgia, taken from timetables for 10 to 15 November 2026; flights back to Europe usually take a little longer, into the prevailing westerly winds. Georgia keeps UTC+4 all year, 1 hour ahead of Istanbul, and in winter 3 hours ahead of Paris and 4 ahead of London, one hour less in summer.
| From | To | Scheduled time | Airlines |
|---|---|---|---|
| Istanbul | Tbilisi | 2 h 10 to 2 h 25 min | Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, AJet |
| Istanbul | Batumi | About 1 h 50 min | Turkish Airlines, Pegasus |
| Tel Aviv | Tbilisi / Batumi | About 2 h 35 min / 2 h 15 min | El Al, Israir, Arkia |
| Budapest | Kutaisi | About 3 h | Wizz Air |
| Warsaw | Tbilisi / Kutaisi | About 3 h 40 min / 3 h 30 min | LOT / Wizz Air |
| Doha | Tbilisi | About 3 h 50 min | Qatar Airways |
| Rome | Kutaisi | About 3 h 50 min | Wizz Air |
| Munich | Tbilisi | About 3 h 55 min | Lufthansa |

| New York | Tbilisi | About 13.5 to 15 h with one change | Via Istanbul, London or Paris |
| Delhi | Tbilisi | About 8 to 15 h with one change | Via Baku, Sharjah, Dubai, Doha or Kuwait City |
Tbilisi or Kutaisi: which airport should you fly into?
A Wizz Air seat to Kutaisi is often the cheapest way into Georgia from Europe, but the airport lies ~245 km from the capital, so the saving holds only when your route suits the west. Weigh the whole journey, not just the ticket.
| Tbilisi (TBS) | Kutaisi (KUT) | |
|---|---|---|
| Airlines | About 40 in mid-October 2026, full-service and low-cost | Mostly Wizz Air, plus Pegasus, FlyArystan and Azimuth |
| How often | Several flights a day from Istanbul, Dubai and Doha; most days from Munich, Warsaw and London | Usually 2 to 4 flights a week per city |
| Baggage | A checked bag usually comes with full-service fares | Wizz Air's basic fare covers one small under-seat bag |
| Getting to Tbilisi | 25 to 40 minutes by car | 3.5 to 4 hours by road, or about 3.5 hours by train from Kutaisi Airport station |
| Good starting point for | Kazbegi, Kakheti, Mtskheta and short city breaks | Imereti's caves and canyons, Racha, Svaneti and Batumi |
Kutaisi wins when the trip begins in the west: Prometheus Cave and Gelati Monastery are under an hour's drive from the runway, Batumi about 2 hours and Mestia 4 to 5. It also works if you will finish in Tbilisi and can fly home from there.
Tbilisi wins for short trips, for itineraries in the east and for families with heavy luggage. The road from Kutaisi to the capital takes half a day, and a private car for that leg costs more than many low-cost tickets.
Open-jaw tickets: fly into Kutaisi and out of Tbilisi
Georgia's sights run from the Black Sea to the vineyards of Kakheti, so landing at one airport and leaving from another saves a day of backtracking. Four combinations work well.
- Kutaisi in, Tbilisi out
Arrive on a low-cost flight, start around Kutaisi, in Racha or in Svaneti, then travel east and fly home from the capital. Best for a week or more. - Tbilisi in, Batumi out
Begin with Tbilisi, Kazbegi and Kakheti and finish on the coast. Turkish Airlines and Pegasus fly from Batumi to Istanbul all year. - Tbilisi in, Kutaisi out
The mirror image of the first idea, useful when a Wizz Air return day suits you better than the outbound. - Add Armenia
Fly into Yerevan and out of Tbilisi, or the reverse. The road between the capitals takes 5 to 6 hours, and an overnight train links them too.
Full-service airlines sell these as multi-city tickets; with low-cost carriers, buy two one-way tickets. If you join separate tickets yourself, say a cheap flight to Istanbul and another on to Tbilisi, nobody rebooks you when the first runs late, so leave several hours or a night between them.
Our private tours start and finish wherever your tickets do, for any date and group size. East to West runs from Tbilisi to Batumi, and the Racha and Imereti tour starts and ends in Kutaisi, which fits a Wizz Air return.
Cheap flights to Tbilisi: when fares are lowest
Demand for Georgia is strongly seasonal. In August 2025 about 1.03 million passengers passed through its airports, against roughly 465,000 in February, the quietest month. Fares follow that curve: they climb from late June to early September and around the holidays, and are usually lowest from November to mid-December and from mid-January to March.
The holiday peaks are not all Western ones. New Year, Orthodox Christmas on 7 January and Orthodox Easter (2 May in 2027) bring Georgians living abroad home, and seats on the busiest routes go early.
- Compare every day a route flies. Midweek departures are often cheaper than Friday and Sunday ones.
- Look at Istanbul. Turkish Airlines, Pegasus and AJet fly on to Tbilisi several times a day between them, and Istanbul is cheap to reach from much of Europe and the Middle East. Keep both legs on one ticket if you can.
- Price the bags. Wizz Air's lowest fare covers only an under-seat bag; a cabin trolley or a 20 kg checked bag can double the total, and you will want the checked bag to carry Georgian wine home.
- Count the transfer. A cheap Kutaisi fare plus half a day on the road is not always cheaper than flying straight to Tbilisi.
- Book summer early. For July to September, two to four months ahead is sensible; low-season fares often hold until a few weeks out.
For scale: a search we ran on 18 October 2026 for mid-November dates found one-way Wizz Air seats to Kutaisi from Barcelona, Warsaw and Budapest from about 160-280 GEL (about $60-105), Pegasus from Istanbul to Tbilisi from about 185-215 GEL (about $70-80), and flights from London, Warsaw or Munich to Tbilisi at roughly two to three times the Wizz Air figure. Treat this as a snapshot.
For the onward leg, our transport fares table lists the buses, trains and minibuses from all three airports with 2026 prices.
Domestic flights in Georgia: Mestia, Ambrolauri and Tbilisi to Batumi
Small twin-engine planes with fewer than 20 seats fly from Natakhtari airfield, ~30 km north of Tbilisi, to Mestia in Svaneti in under an hour, against 8 to 9 hours by road. The route ran in 2026: United Airports of Georgia added four extra flights over Orthodox Easter in April, at 90 GEL (about $35) one way, free for children under 3 and 30 percent off for ages 3 to 12. Tickets are sold by Vanilla Sky, which the airports list as AK Air.
A weekly Kutaisi to Mestia flight has run on Wednesdays in some seasons, but none was on Kutaisi's timetable for late October to mid-November 2026. Ambrolauri in Racha has had flights from Natakhtari on Fridays and Sundays and handled 129 flights in all of 2024; we found no 2026 timetable, so ask first.
Georgian Airways opened Tbilisi to Batumi on 25 June 2026, four times a week in summer, about 45 minutes in the air. It was still on the Tbilisi board in mid-October; check whether it runs through the winter. The train, about 4 to 5 hours, is the year-round alternative.
After you land: arrival and onward travel
Passport control, the insurance question, SIM cards, cash machines and the ride into town are covered step by step in our Tbilisi airport guide and Kutaisi airport guide. To skip all of that, book an airport transfer: a driver meets any flight at Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi with a name sign, day or night, and can start your tour straight from the terminal.
Flights to Tbilisi and Georgia: frequently asked questions
How many airports are there in Georgia?
Three with international flights: Tbilisi (TBS), Kutaisi (KUT) and Batumi (BUS). Small domestic airports at Mestia and Ambrolauri take light planes from Natakhtari airfield north of Tbilisi.
Is there a direct flight from the UK to Tbilisi?
Yes. British Airways flies from London Heathrow and easyJet from London Luton, in about 5 hours. Kutaisi airport listed no London route in October 2026.
Are there direct flights from the USA to Tbilisi?
No. The usual routings go through Istanbul, a European hub such as London, Paris, Munich or Warsaw, or the Gulf. From New York, plan on 13.5 to 15 hours, including one connection.
Does Wizz Air fly to Tbilisi?
Not in 2026. All of Wizz Air's Georgian flights use Kutaisi, from 21 European cities in winter and a few more in summer. The drive on to Tbilisi takes 3.5 to 4 hours, and coaches meet the arrivals.
Is it cheaper to fly to Tbilisi or Kutaisi?
From Europe, Kutaisi usually has the lowest fares thanks to Wizz Air, but add your bags and the 3.5 to 4 hour transfer before deciding. From Istanbul, the Gulf and Asia, Tbilisi is normally cheaper and simpler.
What is the cheapest month to fly to Georgia?
Usually November, the first half of December, late January, February and March, outside New Year, Orthodox Christmas and Easter. July and August cost the most.
Can you fly from Tbilisi to Batumi?
Yes. Georgian Airways flew the route four times a week in summer 2026, in about 45 minutes, and it was still running in mid-October. The train takes about 4 to 5 hours and runs all year.
Can I fly to Mestia?
Yes, on small planes from Natakhtari near Tbilisi: under an hour and about 90 GEL (about $35) one way in 2026. Seats are few and cloud often cancels flights, so book early and keep the road as a backup.
