Best time to visit Anaklia

JFMAMJJASOND
Best: sea 24 °C or warmerGood: sea 21–24 °CCooler sea

The best time to visit Anaklia is July to mid-September. The water then holds 25-27 °C, the skies are clearer than anywhere else on the coast, and hotels and the promenade are fully open. August is the warmest month in air and water, and the busiest. For a quieter swim, choose early September. If you are ending a Svaneti trek with a beach day, late August and September fit well, as the mountain trails are usually still open then.

Local weather tip

The weather in Anaklia is defined in summer by open sky. With cloud cover of only 21-23% in July and August, the wide beach takes the full force of the sun, and there is little natural shade on the sand. Nights near 22 °C mean the heat lingers after dark. Rent an umbrella or bring a beach tent, put on sunscreen before you leave the hotel, and save the promenade for the hour before sunset, which comes at about 20:15-20:50.

What to pack for Anaklia

  • A beach umbrella or tent, as the sand has little shade
  • Strong sunscreen for clear July and August days
  • Breathable clothes for nights that stay near 22 °C
  • Sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat
  • A light jacket for evening promenade walks in May or October
