Zugdidi weather: FAQ

How cold is Zugdidi in winter?

Not very. January, the coldest month, averages highs of about 11 °C (52 °F) and lows of about 2 °C (36 °F), and snow that settles in town is a genuine rarity. Snow is common a short drive north in Svaneti, so pack warmer clothes if you continue to Mestia.

Is Zugdidi humid in summer?

Yes. Summer weather in Zugdidi combines afternoon highs near 30 °C (86 °F) in July and August with sticky, humid air, so it feels hotter than the number. Nights stay warm, around 20 °C (68 °F). Plan outdoor visits for the morning and the evening.

Which month has the most rain in Zugdidi?

June, with about 197 mm, followed by October at around 177 mm and March at about 173 mm. June's rain falls on only nine days, so expect short, heavy downpours rather than days of drizzle. April is the driest month, but even then about 128 mm falls.

Is April a good time to visit Zugdidi?

Yes. April has the least rain of the year, about 128 mm on 11 days, with highs about 20 °C (68 °F) and nights around 8 °C (46 °F). It is comfortable for the Dadiani Palace and the Enguri Dam before the summer heat sets in.
