Best time to visit Khulo
Going by the Khulo weather by month, the best time to visit Khulo is May to September. June and September are ideal for hiking around Tago and down to Skhalta Cathedral, with highs of 24 °C and comfortable nights. July and August are the warmest and driest, good for pairing the town with Goderdzi and the pass road to Akhaltsikhe. Winter visits suit snowy village scenes only; check road status first, as the pass beyond Khulo is usually shut from late autumn to spring.
Khulo is the last town on the valley road before the climb to the Goderdzi Pass at about 2,000 m. In the record of recent years the pass has opened in late April or May and closed between November and mid-December. In September 2026 the ministry said it plans to keep it open through winter with new equipment, but gave no date. Before driving on towards Akhaltsikhe in the cold months, check the road status.

Yes, in most winters, mainly from December to February, when nights fall to about -2 °C (28 °F). Cool enough for a light jacket. July and August nights average about 16 °C (61 °F), and June and September nights about 12-13 °C (53-55 °F), while afternoons reach 24-28 °C. That is a welcome change from the warm, sticky nights on the coast, around 21 °C in Batumi.
