What to wear in Tbilisi in July

Wear your lightest clothes: linen, cotton, a wide-brimmed hat and good sunglasses, plus a refillable water bottle. A shawl or long skirt is useful at Sioni Cathedral and other churches. Sandals with grip beat flip-flops on the polished stone streets of the Old Town.

What July is good for

Music sets the tone. Tbilisi Open Air, the country's largest rock and alternative festival, takes over Lisi Lake on an early July weekend, and the Art-Gene Folk Festival fills the Open Air Museum of Ethnography late in the month. For cooler air, Kazbegi's afternoons sit roughly ten degrees below the city's, with nights of 11 °C, and Gudauri, at about 19 °C, is fresher still. Kojori, on the ridge above town, peaks at about 26 °C, while Borjomi's wooded gorge reaches about 28 °C.
