Georgia Weather in November
Georgia weather in November sits between two seasons. The Black Sea, at about 17 °C (63 °F), is now as warm as Batumi's afternoons, and the coast becomes the mildest corner of the country, though also the wettest. Tbilisi cools to about 13 °C (55 °F) in the afternoon and 5 °C (41 °F) overnight, with crisp and mostly dry weather. In the mountains, Kazbegi and Mestia slip below freezing after dark, to about -3 °C (27 °F), the high passes begin to close, and the ski lifts usually wait for December.
Black Sea coast
Batumi and Zugdidi share the title of warmest city at about 17 °C by day, Batumi's nights stay near 10 °C, and the sea, at about 17 °C, matches the afternoon air. It is the third month running with over 300 mm of rain in Batumi, this time over 12 days, while Kobuleti gets some 255 mm. Anaklia receives less than half Batumi's total.
Kutaisi and the western lowlands
The western lowlands keep some warmth: Zugdidi reaches about 17 °C and Kutaisi about 16 °C, with nights near 8-9 °C, far milder than the east. Rain is steady, around 129 mm in Kutaisi over 10 days. In Guria and Adjara the late harvest of Chkhaveri and other varieties continues into December, and the woods around Martvili and Sataplia show late autumn colour.
Tbilisi, Kakheti and the east
Tbilisi is cool and mostly dry, about 13 °C by day with roughly 34 mm of rain on 5 days, and Rustavi stays a touch milder. In Kakheti the harvest is over and the vineyards turn bronze; Telavi averages about 13 °C with nights near 4 °C, and hosts Erekleoba on 7 November. Sighnaghi and Gori drop to 1-3 °C after dark. Giorgoba on 23 November is a public holiday, with services at St George's churches across the country.
Mountains (1,300 m and higher)
November is the quiet gap before skiing. Gudauri's highs hover near 3 °C and its lows near -5 °C, and the resorts usually open in December. Kazbegi stays chilly yet dry, with only about 5 wet days. Tusheti has been cut off since October. The Datvisjvari Pass to Shatili usually closes between mid-November and December, the Zagari and Goderdzi passes around the same time, and the Jvari Pass can shut for a day after heavy snow.

What November is good for
The weather in Georgia in November rewards travellers who prefer quiet places to heat. Tbilisi is pleasant for museums, sulphur baths and long lunches, and Kakheti's cellars are calm after the harvest. Kutaisi and the west stay mild for Gelati, Prometheus Cave and Martvili. On the coast, Batumi works as a city break, with the botanical garden in autumn colour. Skip Tusheti, Khevsureti and high treks, which are closed or snowbound, and wait until December if you want to ski.

Georgia in November: weather FAQ
Is November a rainy month in Georgia?
It depends on the side of the country. Batumi gets about 306 mm over 12 days and Kutaisi about 129 mm, so the west is wet. The east is the opposite: Tbilisi sees only about 34 mm over 5 days, and Kazbegi about 36 mm. Highs run from about 17 °C (63 °F) on the coast to about 13 °C (55 °F) in Tbilisi.
When do the ski lifts start running?
Usually in December, not November. Gudauri, Bakuriani, Goderdzi and Tetnuldi normally open once enough snow has built up. In November, Gudauri averages about 3 °C (37 °F) by day and -5 °C (23 °F) at night, so early snowfalls come and go. You may well see snow at Gudauri and Kazbegi, but the lifts are rarely running.
Is the sea warmer than the air in November?
Yes, slightly. The sea off Batumi averages about 17 °C (63 °F), a touch above the afternoon air, and far warmer than the nights, which fall to about 10 °C (50 °F). Along with Zugdidi, Batumi is the mildest city in the country. Keen swimmers still go in on calm days; just pack for rain, about 306 mm over 12 days.
When does winter start in Svaneti?
In November, for most practical purposes. Mestia's daytime high falls to about 6 °C (43 °F) and its nights to -2 °C (28 °F), with about 10 days of rain or snow, and Ushguli, higher up, reaches only about 3 °C (37 °F) by day. Snow usually begins to settle in the second half of the month, and the road to Ushguli may then require chains.
