Georgia Weather in October
Georgia weather in October shifts the warmth westward. Kutaisi and Zugdidi still reach about 22-23 °C (72-73 °F), Tbilisi about 20 °C (68 °F) with fresh nights near 11 °C (52 °F), and the Black Sea holds at about 21 °C (70 °F), warm enough for a last swim on calm days. The mountains move quickly towards winter. Kazbegi's afternoons reach about 13 °C (55 °F) and Ushguli dips to freezing at night, while the first heavy snow usually closes the Abano Pass road to Tusheti at some point in the month.
Black Sea coast
Swimmers still get a chance: the sea averages about 21 °C, and Batumi's afternoons reach the same, with nights near 14 °C. Rain stays heavy, about 322 mm in Batumi over 12 days and around 300 mm in Gonio and Kobuleti. Ureki and Anaklia, further north, get less, roughly 170-220 mm. Between the storms the coast is calm and uncrowded.
Kutaisi and the western lowlands
October is autumn at its most pleasant in Imereti and Samegrelo, with Kutaisi near 22 °C by day and 14 °C at night. Rain returns, though: Kutaisi gets about 145 mm over 10 days. Growers around Kutaisi bring in Tsitska and Tsolikouri, and in Racha, where Oni still reaches about 19 °C, the Khvanchkara grapes are left on the vine longer. Poti marks Phazisoba at the end of the month.
Tbilisi, Kakheti and the east
Tbilisi has one of its most comfortable months: about 20 °C by day, 11 °C at night and only around 6 rainy days. On the first weekend, Tbilisoba brings food and wine stalls to the Old Town, and Mtskheta celebrates Svetitskhovloba on 14 October. In Kakheti the harvest winds down. Telavi averages about 20 °C, Sighnaghi 18 °C, and the Gurjaani Wine Festival is usually held on the second Saturday. Forests around Lagodekhi turn gold late in the month.
Mountains (1,300 m and higher)
October closes the high season. The Abano Pass to Tusheti usually shuts with the first heavy snow, sometimes early in the month, and the road to Shatili can see brief snow closures. Kazbegi still has crisp, fairly dry days of about 13 °C, nights near 3 °C, and birch woods turning yellow. Mestia averages about 14 °C. Ushguli, Gudauri and Juta now drop to around 0 °C at night, and late in the month the Zagari Pass may close.

At their best in October
What October is good for
October is wine month in western Georgia and a fine city month in Tbilisi. Pair Tbilisoba with day trips to Mtskheta and Kakheti for the Gurjaani Wine Festival or TelaVino, then cross to Kutaisi and Racha, where picking runs later. Kazbegi is lovely in autumn colour, and the Borjomi forests are at their best. Tusheti usually drops off the list once its road closes, and high treks in Svaneti grow cold and short. The weather in Georgia in October still allows a sea swim at Batumi or Kobuleti on a warm, calm day.

Is it too late for Tusheti in October?
Often, yes. The Abano Pass, the only road into Tusheti, usually shuts when the first heavy snow arrives in October; in recent years that has happened anywhere from early to late in the month. If it is still open, Omalo's highs are about 12 °C (54 °F) and its lows about 2 °C (36 °F). Book a flexible transfer and check road notices daily.
What temperature is Kazbegi in October?
Expect afternoons of about 13 °C (55 °F) and nights of about 3 °C (37 °F), with frost becoming likely by the end of the month. October is also fairly dry, about 49 mm over 7 days, so walks to Gergeti Trinity Church and into the Truso and Juta valleys are still rewarding. Snow can already fall at Gudauri and on the Jvari Pass.

Probably not.
